Available Technology’s Story

I’m Mike, and I started Available Technology right here in Grenville SC.  Here is my story, and the story of Available Technology Inc.

Since our very beginning in 1997, our main focus has been the one-on-one relationship with our customers.

I first began helping clients with their computers back in 1997, before most people had them at home. Doctors and Attorneys were beginning to get computers for home use, but there were very few places to buy them locally.  So our customer service experience began by traveling with clients 1.5 hours to the closest computer store, which was COMPUSA in Charlotte, NC.  We would shop with the customer and pickup a PC, then drive back to Greenville to setup and train the client on the new equipment.  This type of personalized service and commitment quickly allowed us to expand into a successful retail store and the opportunity to be the first cable modem installer for Charter in Greenville when cable modems were brand new.

In 2007 I started Available Technology to provide personal and proactive IT service to businesses, and particularly to small businesses. That sector of the market was growing rapidly, and that’s where I saw the most potential for cultivating lasting relationships. We began by organizing focus groups to find out what our clients actually wanted and needed from an IT services provider.  Our first focus groups were with existing customers, and potential ones, as well as business leaders in the upstate area. Through these focus groups, we developed our business foundations focused on what potential clients told us what they wanted:

  • Personal Service – We realize that each client’s team is made of people, with real concerns and lives beyond the business day.  We keep the “person-ness” of our clients in mind at all times.
  • Proactive Service – We know that our clients need to be actively informed of potential problems or areas in which their businesses can be more effectively protected, or where productivity can be maximized.  Our goal is to teach and inform proactively on these subjects.
  • Available Service – We are built for speed.  We respond quickly and we do whatever is necessary to take care of our customer’s IT issues.  We take ownership of problems and make them our own. Even our name reflects how important this is to us and our culture.

Our business goals are: 30 minute response time, 6 hour resolutions, Consistent Follow Up and Reliable Follow Through. These are the metrics by which we measure success.

Available Technology wasn’t built; it was grown. Our company was slowly and carefully tended and grown around a core of excellent customer service.  Our reviews and our employees confirm it. The wellbeing of our employees and satisfaction of our clients is my highest priority.
